Light project – Gala Theatre 2017-2018
The following children and staff took part in Durham Local Authorityโs Light Project from June 2017 until October 2017. This involved 3 visits to Easington Barn, an arts and education centre where we worked alongside our partner school, Westlea Primary School, engaging in a range of challenging and inspiring activities led by artist and early yearโs educator Nicola Balfour. The focus of the project was โLightโ, inspired by a campaign shining a light on all thatโs great about the county. We continued this work in nursery with exciting and creative activities around Festivals of Light.
The work that was produced was displayed in The Gala Theatre Art Gallery in January 2018 with a special celebratory evening to launch the event.
The Light Project was a fabulous experience enjoyed by staff and children alike, which gave fantastic opportunities for children to explore new environments and deepen their knowledge through a range of exciting and engaging activities. The children were very proud of their finished work and this display provides a lovely collection of their experiences and memories to be shared with parents and friends.
